New fertility magazine launched in Tbilisi, Georgia
I was so pleased to tell the story of my birth in the first ever edition of a new medical magazine “New Factor” published where Europe meets Western Asia in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The interview was conducted online with the magazine, published by the Amarata Group and launched at a wonderful event in the city. I was unable to attend but sent a video congratulating those involved on the launch.
The event also marked the anniversary of the “For You Foundation” which helps fund fertility treatment for people in Georgia. So far it has helped bring more than 2,000 children into the world.
Wherever I go in the world affordability is one of the biggest barriers that infertile couples face. My own parents were poor and could not have afforded the treatment they needed. Today they would not qualify for help on the UKs National Health Service as my father had children from a previous marriage.
So, it is fantastic that the Foundation is providing financial support to infertile couples in Georgia – the only organisation doing this and I would like to congratulate Professor Nino Museridze and her husband on this anniversary and on her role as Director of the Georgian-German Reproductive Center (GGRC)
“New Factor” is the first Georgian medical magazine focused on reproductive medicine and fertility and as well as my own story it featured an incredible line-up of medical people from that country including:
Bidzina Kulumbegov (MD, PhD): One of Georgia's most famous pediatricians and allergist-immunologists. He became a major national public figure and TV presenter during the COVID-19 pandemic, routinely offering public health guidance and clinical lecturing.
From Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Health there are pieces about Tamar Maghularia (MD, PhD): A highly prominent gynecologist, and endocrinologist with over 30 years of medical experience; Nikoloz Sarauli (MD): A specialist obstetrician-gynecologist, surgeon, and onco-gynecologist. He is well known for advanced gynecological endoscopic surgery and Tamar Antelava: An assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU).
The magazine also features Lasha Uchava (MD, PhD): A well-known endocrinologist and nutritionist at the National Institute of Endocrinology in Georgia; Mamuka Bokuchava Professor at Tbilisi State Medical University, Deputy Director of the Academician N. Bokhua Cardiovascular Center, and Vascular Surgeon (Angiosurgeon). Also Aleksandre Bochorishvili - MD Phd Urologist.
I hope one day I can visit Georgia and see first hand the amazing work that is being done there. In Georgia birth rates they reached a 32-year historic low in 2025 so the work being done is vital to the survival of the country.
