My Day Sharing the MoreJoy™ Campaign at ESHRE
I went to the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) annual meeting when it was held in London, to talk to people about a subject close to my heart. I was there as an ambassador of the IFFS’s (International Federation of Fertility Societies) MoreJoy™ campaign to raise awareness of falling birth rates and the need for fairer, easier access to fertility care. More people than ever are struggling to start a family, and many still face barriers to getting the help they need – whether that’s cost, long waiting times, or simply not knowing where to turn. I want to do all that I can to help them.
The campaign brings together ambassadors, healthcare professionals and organisations around the world to start conversations about fertility and the challenges facing people who want to have children. I was delighted to wear my MoreJoy™ T-shirt and be part of the IFFS team for the day, alongside IFFS president Dr Marcos Horton and board member and treasurer, Dr Edgar Mocanu. The work they and the wider IFFS team do around the world is amazing. The Federation brings together experts, researchers and healthcare professionals to share knowledge, improve fertility care and raise awareness of the challenges affecting fertility worldwide.
Through the course of what turned out to be a very busy day, I had the privilege to meet embryologists, clinicians, researchers, lab teams, students, and people working across fertility care from all over the world who queued up for a photo and to hear more about the campaign. Everyone had something interesting to share – what’s happening with birth rates where they live, how access to care works, and the challenges their clinics face. Hearing all these perspectives in one place really shows how infertility crosses borders and how many people are working to improve things.
I was delighted to see so many people joining in and becoming MoreJoy™ ambassadors. Anyone who cares about improving access to fertility care can take part, and ambassadors from every corner of the world are helping to spread the message.
